Overview

This document describes the steps necessary to install the Realtek AC'97 audio driver.


Identification

To confirm that this is the correct audio update for your motherboard, perform the following steps.

If the computer is turned off:

1.  Turn on the computer.  On your keyboard, repeatedly press the F2 key to enter the BIOS Setup Utility.

2.  In the BIOS Setup Utility, on the Main tab, look for the BIOS version line.  The version needs to list BF86510A.  

If the computer is turned on and in Windows:

1.  From the Start menu, click Shut Down.  In the Shut Down Windows dialog box, select Restart, and then click Yes.

2.  As soon as the computer restarts, on your keyboard, repeatedly press the F2 key to enter the BIOS Setup Utility.

3.  In the BIOS Setup Utility, on the Main tab, look for the BIOS version line.  The version needs to list BF86510A.  


Installation

1.  Download the file to the desktop.

2.  On the desktop, double-click the D00265-001-001.exe file.  The needed files extract to the C:\Cabs\D00265-001-001 folder.

3.  From the Start menu, click Run.

4.  In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\D00265-001-001\Setup.exe.  Click OK.

5.  In the Realtek AC'97 Audio Setup dialog box, click Next

6.  The driver is installed.

7.  In the Realtek AC'97 Audio Setup dialog box, click Yes, I want to restart my computer now, and then click Finish.


Removal

1.  From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, double-click the Add or Remove Programs icon.

3.  In the Add or Remove Programs window, click Realtek AC'97 Audio, and then click Change/Remove.

4.  The driver is removed.

5.  In the Realtek AC'97 Audio Setup dialog box, click Yes, I want to restart my computer now, and then click Finish.


Troubleshooting

If you have difficulty installing the new driver, download the file again, and then perform the installation steps.


Reason for Update

This is the first release of the Hazelton motherboard audio driver.
