Unified
Submittal Descriptions and standard SD numbers were adopted
by all three agencies. NASA and Navy Masters contained on the CCB disc
#50 (October, 1999) and later utilize the new format and SD numbers. Army
Masters implemented the new format in the Fall of 2000, beginning with
CCB disc #54, and use the Navy Submittal Register. To
find out more information on Submittal Formatting, see Submittal
Formatting Requirements.
The current Sections contain a <MTA> tag that enables SpecsIntact to recognize the format. The previous and current descriptions cannot be mixed in a Job.
The following applies to the formatting of submittals with the previous NASA descriptions:
The Submittal Article must be in PART 1 and entitled "1.x SUBMITTALS" ("x" represents any number).
Submittal Descriptions, (SD ## Title), are identified below the Submittal Article within list tags. Additionally, they are surrounded by a separate set of submittal tags.
Submittal Items are only identified below the submittal descriptions within item tags. Additionally, they are surrounded by a separate set of submittal tags.
NASA does not reference the submittal item elsewhere in the text.
Tagged submittal items located in the Submittal Article are not sensitive to upper or lower case.
Since submittal items do not appear elsewhere in the text, when the Submittal Register is generated, the software will insert into Column [d] (Specification Paragraph Number), the subpart number for the Submittal Article.
Submittal Classifications are designated by inserting a "G" (Government Approved) following the submittal item, within the item tags. Additionally, they are surrounded by a separate set of submittal tags.
Reviewer is designated by inserting "A/E" or any three characters in conjunction with the Classification (G). It must be separated from the classification by inserting a space, comma, pipe symbol or dash.
Both the Classification and Reviewer must appear following the Submittal item, within item tags. Additionally, they are both surrounded by a separate set of submittal tags.

Each agency formats its Submittal Article differently;
if Army
or NAVFAC
guide specifications are used in a NASA
project, the Submittal Article should be modified to recognize the NASA Formatting Requirements.
