Taking inspiration from the ocean, celebrated New York designer Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz has created an imaginative and innovative bath through a stunning use of color and movement. A gently curved wall, brightly tiled in delicate green, soft and deep shades of blue, and warm white is combined with equally curvaceous plumbing fixtures. According to the designer, these organic shapes are carried throughout the room.

Using images of air, light and water, the room is transformed into a tranquil, semi-outdoor space. Within the bay window is an open shower with two MasterShower towers and a luxurious showerhead. A bright mirrored bath cabinet appears to float above the wall-mounted lavatory which is fitted with a high-arch faucet in polished chrome.

Behind a sheer, flowing white curtain that divides the room’s functions, one discovers an inviting whirlpool, big enough for two, as well as a toilet and bidet. On a sunny day, light streams through the bay window and is reflected in the mirrors, curtain and tile -- while on a gloomy day, an inventive use of fiber optic lighting ensures a dreamy bathing experience.

About the Designer
Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz specializes in high-end residential and contract interiors. Born in Puerto Rico, Noriega-Ortiz has soared to the height of his field by creating interiors of distinction. He moved to New York in 1982 after completing his first master’s degree in architecture. In 1983, he earned a second master’s degree in architecture and Urban design from Columbia University and won a position with the widely acclaimed designer, John F. Saladino. During his nine years with JFS, Inc. he held the position of head interior designer for six years.
