Using the curvilinear styling of the plumbing fixtures as a point of departure for this contemporary bath, Jack Weyna, ASID, addresses the challenge of working with a linear space with beautiful results. The curved, tiled wall not only divides the 5 1/2' x 12' space to create a private whirlpool area, it also becomes the focal point of the room. The wall helps compartmentalize the different functions of the room so that it can be used by more than one person at the same time. While one person prepares for the day, another may enjoy a relaxing whirlpool bath. The overall look is one of contemporary simplicity defined by a crisp, refreshing blue and a monochromatic palette of whites that is rich in textural quality. Extensive use of mirrors adds depth to the room, making it look as though it goes on forever. A customized treatment of the mirror above the pedestal lavatory lends a contemporary touch, while blending with the traditional styling of the plumbing fixtures. A softness results from the color, reflective light, a wonderful natural limestone floor, and a luxurious silk shower curtain. The matte finish and leaf pattern of the tile lends an Arts and Crafts feel. Laminated cabinets and open, mirrored shelving offer ample storage and space for displaying personal mementos. Recessed lighting dramatically washes the walls and floor while providing abundant illumination for grooming. About the Designer PRODUCT/SOURCE LIST Kohler Co. Ann Sacks Tile & Stone
