"A warm, inviting gathering place where family and friends Such was the imagery that guided Ellen Cheever, ASID, CBD, CKD, to create this decidedly casual, European country kitchen. The colors, textures and products specified in the room have been chosen and arranged to demonstrate the beauty and flexibility available in current kitchen design. Antique cherry cabinets with a subtle white glaze wrap around the room's L-shaped work area. Increased storage space for china and glassware is achieved by bringing one of the cabinets down to the countertop. This built-in hutch features multi-paned glass doors painted to complement the wall and countertop surfaces. An open shelf system placed over the main sink is a nice design alternative when the window in the room is in a different area. The shelves can be used to display favorite collectibles or to store frequently used kitchen items. A primary and a secondary sink have been included in this corner of the kitchen following a design trend to multiple work stations. The undermount installation of the main sink demonstrates how very bold colors can be used effectively in a small kitchen. Implementing a barrier-free design principle, high arch faucets are equipped with easy-to-manipulate wristblade handles. Rustic, natural color antique terra cotta floor tile gives the space a rich foundation entirely appropriate to the country French ambiance. A hand-carved valance piece, reminiscent of a fine piece of furniture, is hung on the featured wall beneath a custom floral tile mural that helps tie together the rooms colors. Low-voltage, low-profile halogen lamps are used for both accent and task lighting. The low voltage lamps are cooler and more comfortable to work under than incandescent lighting, and their low profile mount doesn't require stealing interior cabinet space.
