By combining serene colors, gentle lighting, luxurious bath
fixtures and aromatic candles, Wisconsin designer Vonda Myers Tomlinson, ASID, has created
a private bath sanctuary. The essence of nature is captured both in color and texture
in this inviting bath setting. Myers uses earthy shades of beige and black in both
plumbing fixtures and accessories. A wall of reclaimed cream city brick is the backdrop
for a pair of pedestal lavatories with dramatic, yet fanciful faucets.
Honey-colored tumbled marble surrounds the tub and toilet area, both featuring unique
stone mosaics depicting scenes from nature. |
A wall of hanging, scented candles above the black whirlpool bath adds
an element of drama to the intimate space. The tub is surrounded by a tumbled-marble deck
which supports an elegantly upholstered seat. The rustic wood floor was created with
reclaimed maple stained a warm, honey finish. Gentle lighting at the ceiling level and
surrounding the whirlpool deck adds the finishing touch to this intimate bathing
experience.
About the Designer
Vonda Myers Tomlinson, ASID, practices interior design in Kohler, Wisconsin,
where she is supervisor of interior design for Kohler Co. In her role, she has been
involved in designing office, retail and hospitality spaces. Tomlinson has held numerous
board positions with the Wisconsin Chapter of ASID, including the office of president. She
has received several ASID Presidential Citations for her active design involvement, and
holds professional memberships with both the International Facility Management Association
and Historic Preservation Society.
