The Bold Look of KOHLER Geometry of Deco
The Geometry of Deco Geometrics play an important role in this sophisticated bathroom which received its design focus from the diagonally placed whirlpool bath. New York-based designer John A. Buscarello, ASID, pursued his theme with abundant use of tile for textural and pattern emphasis. He also perceived the robust merlot hue as intimating a sophisticated, masculine air.

With the whirlpool centrally placed, Buscarello then brought one of the room's side walls forward to meet a back edge of the bath. In the process he created a false wall with sufficient space for a recessed cubicle holding a television which is positioned for comfortable viewing while relaxing in the whirlpool. The other straight side of the whirlpool is met by another wall that rises five feet to a triangular ledge which is used as a platform for multiple works of colorful ceramic art.

To further escape the room's rectangular dimensions, Buscarello placed the toilet on a diagonal opposite the whirlpool, again using a false wall technique. A pedestal lavatory also stands opposite the bathing area.

Wall tile in a shade of light salmon are mounted horizontally from floor level to a height of four feet, where a wild rose molded tile chair rail breaks the pattern. Above this point and continuing up to the ceiling crown molding, similarly colored tiles are turned on the diagonal. The somewhat monochromatic tile colors were selected to complement the rich merlot of the fixtures.

Overhead, the diamond configuration returns in the form of a cove ceiling shaped like a hollow pyramid. Light cast upward from a glass and aluminum bowl chandelier washes the entire bathroom in a subtle glow.

The room's only other lighting is provided by a pair of art deco wall sconces that border a circular mirror placed over the lavatory. The mirror frame echoes the color and sculpting of the room's crown molding.
