Art in Everyday Life

Kohler's support of the arts stems, in part, from the value of art in industry. This philosophy is underscored by the craftsmanship and artistic innovation that characterize the company's plumbing products as "functional art" in everyday life.Waters Grove

Kohler Co's HeadquartersAt Kohler Co.'s corporate headquarters, the importance of art in everyday life is further enhanced by a series of murals found in the main office lobby. Painted by industrial artist Arthur Covey, they depict larger-than-life-sized men pouring molten iron, sifting enamel powder, and other operations in the manufacture of enameled cast iron.

The murals were one of former company president Walter J. Kohler's many endeavors to enrich the everyday lives of the men and women who dedicated themselves to Kohler Co. It was his philosophy that before a worker could aspire to greatness and pride of workmanship, he should be surrounded by the best this country had to offer.

Today, that philosophy is still evident. In addition to being displayed throughout Kohler factory and office buildings, works from the corporate art collection can be found around the Village of Kohler. A walking/driving "sculpture appreciation tour" is being developed for village residents and visitors.
