image\!.gif Unified Submittal Descriptions and standard SD numbers were adopted by all three agencies. NASA and Navy Masters contained on the CCB disc #50 (October, 1999) and later utilize the new format and SD numbers. Army Masters implemented the new format in the Fall of 2000, beginning with CCB disc #54, and use the Navy Submittal Register.  To find out more information on Submittal Formatting, see Submittal Formatting Requirements.

The current Sections contain a <MTA> tag that enables SpecsIntact to recognize the format. The previous and current descriptions cannot be mixed in a Job.

The following applies to the formatting of submittals with the previous NASA descriptions:

NASA does not reference the submittal item elsewhere in the text.

Tagged submittal items located in the Submittal Article are not sensitive to upper or lower case.

Since submittal items do not appear elsewhere in the text, when the Submittal Register is generated, the software will insert into Column [d] (Specification  Paragraph Number), the subpart number for the Submittal Article.

Both the Classification and Reviewer must appear following the Submittal item, within item tags. Additionally, they are both surrounded by a separate set of submittal tags.

Example: NASA Submittal Descriptions

</SPT=1.2><SPT=1.3><TTL>1.3 SUBMITTALS</TTL>

<TXT>The following shall be submitted in accordance with Section

<SRF>01330</SRF>, "Submittals," in sufficient detail to show full compliance

with the specification:</TXT>

<LST>SD-01 Data<LST>

<ITM>Equipment and Performance Data shall

be submitted for the following items consisting of load ratings, design, speeds, car and platform dimensions, and opening and

closing speeds.

Power Units G

Motors <SUB<G|A/E</ITM>

Each agency formats its Submittal Article differently; if Army or NAVFAC guide specifications are used in a NASA project, the Submittal Article should be modified to recognize the NASA Formatting Requirements.
